All Inside ACL Reconstruc
All Inside ACL Reconstruction

All inside ACL reconstruction is a special way to rebuild a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).Using this technique, Dr. Thomas is able to perform the surgery arthroscopically through very small portals avoiding the standard larger incisions.

The ACL is reconstructed using an allograft tendon to avoid harvesting the patients host tissue.

Like other ACL reconstructions two bone tunnels are prepared, one in the femur and one in the tibia, to secure the new ligament.  Intead of drilling these tunnels through larger incisions from the outside of the knee, the tunnels are prepared through the small arthroscopic portals utilizing special instruments from the inside of the knee.

The new ligament is also secured from the inside of the knee.

The final result looks and acts just like a standard ACL reconstruction without the big scars.

The procedure takes a bit longer to complete, but is an excellent approach for those seeking a cosmetically appealing truly all-arthroscopic ACL Reconstrucion.
